In July 2016 nations from around the world congregated in Florida, United States, to contest the eighth edition of the Flag Football World Championship.

The Championship, first staged in Austria in 2002, sees nations compete in the 5 v 5 format of the game with a number of fixtures taking place over a few short, intense game days.

Austria and the reigning champions, the United States, each have three global titles with Canada and France each holding one.
